About Us
Catering to the educational needs of rural youth
In 1982, BLDEA established Basaveshwar Arts & Commerce College in Basavana Bagewadi, the birthplace of His Holiness Jagadguru Shri Basaveshwara, a great social reformer and a revolutionary saint of the 12th Century. It is 42 km away from Vjayapura, a district known for the world-famous historical monument Gol Gumbaz.
The aim of starting the institution was to offer education to the oppressed, disadvantaged and rural community of Basavana Bagewadi. Most of the students studying in this college hail from a poor background and mainly depend on agriculture.
Basaveshwar Arts & Commerce College is an aided institution affiliated with Rani Channamma University, Belagavi, and recognized under UGC 2(f) &12(b). Two UG programmes (BA and BCom) and one PG programme are offered to the students. About 98% of college students have a rural background. The institution has continuously strived to impart quality education.
